Halloween Horror Show Events

We’ve just heard about two massive events happening in our local area for Halloween and we thought we’d help spread the word about them because you, our dear blog readers and prospective visitors, deserve to know about them, so that you have the chance to plan a visit here and enjoy being thoroughly frightened with us here by the sea at the end of October.  If you don’t enjoy being scared don’t read this post and don’t book for these events! If horror movies and things that go bump in your night are your thing, read on…

Screamland

Imagine the mist rolling in over the sea atmospherically, the beach is quiet, the air is fresh, you take a long walk along the coast, enjoy a Kentish ale or two in one of our cosy micro pubs or traditional bars, sneak in an out of season ice cream or some delicious fish and chips – the best in Kent – then at night you get to dress up in the super scary costume you’ve brought along specially and get yourself down to one of the following wild Halloween events!

Why not plan to come with a group of friends and stay in one of our very comfortable, group-friendly, self catering holiday homes, just a short walk from the beach in the heart of Broadstairs on the East Kent coast, just over an hour by high speed train from central London.

Here’s the low down on the horrific happenings you won’t want to miss:

Hellgate Winter Gardens — the 2014 sell-out Halloween horror attraction — returns to Margate Winter Gardens for the second year, 27th-31st October 2015, picking up the story of the Zombie apocalypse where it left off: the undead are back, the virus has mutated….government scientists are doing all they can to save you but…. basically the whole thing looks terrifying!  Early bird tickets are on sale now. Find our more, see the trailer video and BBC news coverage from last year and book your tickets at the Hellgate website

Dreamland re-opened earlier this year (surely you’ve heard all about it by now, it’s been all over the news) and have been holding a lot of really innovative and different events since, from Grease singalongs to DJ Mike Skinner, it’s all been very friendly so far but it’s looking very different – and a lot less cheerful – for their Screamland Halloween event, set to include scare mazes, several special events within the big event and seriously scary sideshows. Taking place over two weeks. Screamland is anticipated to be the biggest scare fest in the South East, take a look at the website, see if you think it’s your cup of tea and if it is move fast to book your accomodation with us if you want to do more than just a day.  The event runs from 16th – 31st October.

Stop Press update: the Scenic Railway will be open at Dreamland from 16th October, in time for Screamland. It’s going to be busy, get booking!

Our holiday lets are reassuringly normal, light, bright airy and well equipped, we think you’ll be glad to escape back them them after your frightfest at either of these Margate events, both a short (approximately £8) cab ride away.

If you’re not familiar with the geography of the area, the three towns of Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate are adjacent to each other on the North East tip of Kent, the area as a whole is known as the Isle of Thanet. There’s lots to do across the Isle and the three towns each have a distinct character, plenty of restaurants bars, shops and attractions and miles of sandy beaches.  It’s easy to go between the towns when you’re staying in any one of them and doing so makes for a particularly vibrant holiday experience.

So come on ye goths and ghouls, come on ye thrill seekers and ghost hunters and horror fans – come to Thanet for Halloween by the sea!  You can be very certain you’re going to have a fang-tastic time (ouch!).
