Broadstairs is open for the season!

Broadstairs Summer season is well and truly upon us once again and we’d like to share with you a few reasons to plan some time here with us, beside the seaside, in beautiful Broadstairs, on the Isle of Thanet in East Kent, just over an hour from London by train.

Broadstairs’ beautiful businesses, superb shops and lovely locals have been busy over recent weeks and months to ensure the town fully deserves its recent listing as one of the ‘30 Best Places for a Weekend Retreat’ … by The Times (March 2014).

Our already beautiful blue flag beaches are now even more worthy of a visit, having been given a good spring clean in a drive organised by Joss Bay Surf School, supported by an enthusiastic band of local volunteers.

The recent Taste of Kent Awards has helped secure the Isles’ growing reputation as a top foodie destination. Driving the gastro revolution are local restaurants, Wyatt & Jones and The Ambrette, and food producers; Little Stour Orchard, Gadds Brewery and fishmongers, Fruits de Mer, all of whom made their mark at this prestigious event. The place to go to find many of our best local food producers is the Cliftonville Farmers Market which took home the title of ‘Kent’s Best Farmers Market’, a real ‘go-to’ if you happen to be find yourself on the Isle on the last Sunday of the month.

Broadstairs is now also home to none other than Britain’s Friendliest Business, Helter Skelter Soft Play Centre & Café and The Best Fish & Chip Shop in Kent, Star of the Sea.

The icing on the cake for visitors to our lovely Isle will always be the weather as Thanet has its very own micro climate and often gets more sunshine than the rest of the UK. If April is anything to go by then it looks like we are in for the sun-soaked summer we’ve been promised. We’ve already seen temperatures in the early 20’s, swimmers and surfers have braved the water and the sands have seen plenty of families enjoying themselves in the early season sun.
