Broadstairs summer festivities 2016

This summer visitors to our Broadstairs Holiday Lets will find lots going on around our beautiful English seaside town. We thought it would be nice to highlight some of the key events coming up in the next couple of months, for those of you with holidays already booked, or indeed those who might be thinking about planning day trips or short breaks, who might appreciate some info to help you plan when to come!

This very weekend, discover the Broadstairs Summer Fair in Victoria Gardens, on the cliffs above Viking Bay.  If you haven’t already booked to stay with us, but perhaps don’t live too far away, why not come for a day and soak up the atmosphere!

It’s a family friendly event, with games and rides for all ages, crazy golf, crafts, stalls, fun fair, music on the bandstand and more.

The Summer Fair is a fundraiser for the town’s Water Gala which takes place this year on 17th August and includes fireworks, an air show and daring jet skier display, so that’s got to be another prospective date for your diary!

On 20th and 27th July and 24th August there will be fireworks over Viking Bay with music at the bandstand. The bay is a beautiful setting for sparkles in the night sky over the sea, these firework nights are extremely popular.

5-12th August is Broadstairs Folk Week -with around 500 acts performing all over town, covering every type of music and dance that could be described as folk, from very traditional English, to world-music acts and some very modern names.

Bandstand concerts are scheduled throughout the summer – often with brass bands on Sundays as well as other styles of music represented on different days. Jamie Moore is a name to look out for, a talented Canadian musician and composer who resides in Broadstairs and mixes up jazz and classical sounds – his accomplished guitar playing is very easy and enjoyable to listen to.

25th August is the Broadstairs Summer Sounds concert, organised by the Town Team – showcasing some of our very best local talent and celebrating everything that is good about Broadstairs – expect to hear some top Blues musicians, including Nigel Feist with his band and Rosco Levee and the Southern Slide, who’ve been nominated for British Blues Awards. At the time of writing the team indicate that they may do a second Summer Sounds event so when we know for sure what they are planning we’ll let you know.
