Proud to support the RNLI
This week we were thrilled to receive a lovely message of thanks to our company from the RNLI – the Royal National Lifeboat Institute!
RNLI is a wonderful charity which saves life at sea and prevents people getting into difficulties by also disseminating safety information. It receives no government funding and yet manages to provide lifeboat cover all around the UK coastline, with lifeboats based in Ramsgate and Margate here in Thanet.
We defy anyone to watch their promotional video and not be inspired to want to help:
RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland, and their lifeguards also watch over people on many of the country’s beaches (those that are busiest). They also have Flood Rescue Teams who come into their own on those rare occassions when bad weather causes serious flooding.
RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved almost 150,000 lives since the charity was established almost 200 years ago (in 1824). In addition the charity works hard to influence, supervise and educate people too. They have Community Safety teams to explain the risks and share safety knowledge with people going out to sea or simply to the coast. And they have international teams who work with partner organisations who share their aims – to help tackle drowning in communities at risk all around the world.
In the last few months alone, off the coast hereabouts fishermen, kayakers and swimmers in difficulty have been rescued by our local RNLI volunteers and lifeguards. It doesn’t bear thinking about what would have happened to those people if the charity was not there.
Seeing the Lifeboat launched from Margate or Ramsgate Harbour is always a dramatic scene and we are reminded of just how precious and fragile life is. We can only be grateful for those who give up their time and are so skilled to be able to leap into action and go out there to save those who need their help.
For the last five years we have been glad to support the RNLI by providing reduced rent of our properties for use by the charity – we do this because we believe in the important work that they do and it feels good to help them. We are happy to know that they have enjoyed staying in our comfortable well equipped properties and that the money they have saved has helped them to help more people – this year thanks to sht support they’ve recieved they have been able to buy a new lifeboat and give safety messages to over 10,000 people!
We thought that our blog readers would be interested to see some of their amazing letter and so have decided to share. With thanks to Steve Law at the RNLI for kindly taking the time to send us such kind feedback about our accomodation as well as information about his team’s work which we are delighted to be able to pass on. We are just filled with admiration for all the RNLI staff and volunteers, both those who help people in distress at sea and those who work so hard to fundraise and give out vital safety information. Bravo to Steve and his colleagues.
Here is what Steve wrote to us:
“As the season comes to an end for my team I just wanted to pass on my
thanks to you and your company for hosting us again this year. As ever the
accommodation has been top notch and your service outstanding. This year
has been challenging but we’ve raised enough money to buy a new lifeboat
and given safety messages to over 10,000 people – we couldn’t have done
this without your support.”
And we understand that the team are already thinking about booking again to stay with Beeches Holiday Lets in Broadstairs next year. We will be very happy to have them.
We are really pleased the RNLI are happy with our accommodation and service.
This is what we strive to achieve at all times – happy customers. We are so glad to be in a position to help this wonderful charity.
Are you thinking about next year’s holiday yet? It’s not too early, we are already receiving enquiries for 2018, including from our lovely RNLI friends – check availability of our properties via the form on our home page. Broadstairs is a great place for a summer break and with the RNLI on hand to inform and assist you you can feel safe both in and around the sea as well as on the beach!
You can also support the charity in lots of different ways – not least, of course, they are reliant on donations including legacies. If this article and watching the film has inspired you visit the RNLI website and find out more about their work and how you can help them too.
