Beeches Holiday Lets – introducing our local area!

Beeches Holiday Lets are based in Broadstairs, Kent. Full information regarding accommodation and prices can be found by using  the availability checker form on our home page.

The accommodation is mainly situated in Broadstairs and is close to the neighbouring towns of Ramsgate and Margate, which together make up the ‘Isle of Thanet’.  These three seaside towns boast many beautiful sandy beaches, some with blue flag awards, as a measure of cleanliness, quality and facilities. Beeches holiday lets are ideally placed for families who want a self catering break in this delightful, coastal area.

Thanet is enjoying greater accessibility following the introduction of high speed trains to and from London, cutting the journey time down to just over an hour. The resort now appeals to a much wider catchment area, with local hotels and restaurants referring to increased trade once again approaching that of the 1960’s, before package holidays had started to entice British holidaymakers abroad.

Broadstairs is a traditional and bustling seaside town, with many local bars and some fantastic restaurants overlooking the sea, while if you fancy a cream tea or ice cream, you’ll be spoilt for choice.  Lillyputt’s mini golf is well worth a visit after a long day relaxing on the beech, with the adults secretly enjoying it as much as the kids!

A major event hosted by the town every August is Folk Week and its popularity sees tens of thousands of people visit at this time, transforming the area into a vibrant and animated resort. Many of the local bars have live bands and numerous associated events occur each day. More information can be found at: http://www.broadstairsfolkweek.org.uk/

Another popular event is the Broadstairs Food Festival, which is the largest of its kind in the south east of England.  A celebration of eating and drinking, it is a showcase of the fantastic food, drink and hospitality that can be found in Kent and the surrounding counties.

Margate has a different feel to Broadstairs and has been undergoing major regeneration over the last 5 years.  Huge investments have been made in the local arts which culminated with the opening of the award winning Turner Contemporary Centre in April 2011: www.turnercontemporary.org

While managing to keep its bucket and spade seaside appeal, and old favourites like candyfloss and fish and chips, the opening of the Turner Contemporary has established Margate as an arts centre.  Buzzing with cultural renaissance in the beautiful Old Town, with its galleries, quirky shops and trendy cafés, it has become a true café culture and regular jazz bands play in many of the bars.  Many of the original amusement arcades along the seafront have also been refurbished.

A number of events come to Margate each year including, kiting competitions and beech volleyball.

Ramsgate has also seen massive inward investment and the seafront boasts
many new and tastefully decorated restaurants overlooking the sea. Visitor numbers have increased following the proactive management of the Ramsgate Royal Harbour and an investment in more boat moorings, which has encouraged more boats and yachts to stop in the area. And one key event on the town’s calendar is Ramsgate week, which is an annual regatta hosted by the Royal Temple Yacht Club and is widely recognised as the alternative to Cowes. http://www.rtyc.com/ramsgateweek.htm

Westwood Cross, the shopping hub at the centre of Thanet, between the three towns, was opened in June 2005. The £100 million investment saw the arrival of many major retailers including Next, large format M&S and Debenhams, the centre now also boasts a large format Primark, which has become one of the most popular stores.

2008 saw the addition of a 10 screen Vue cinema; casino, bingo and 4 large
restaurants including Frankies & Bennys, Ask and Nandos. Westwood Cross is well worth a day out for the whole family if you enjoy shopping!
