New Thanet Farmers Market Launching!

Love to cook? Love fresh local ingredients? Want to make the most of the well equipped kitchen in your family friendly holiday home when you’re visiting Broadstairs or the surrounding areas?

Thanet Farmers’ Market is a new monthly food market at The Marlowe Academy
in Ramsgate launching on Sunday 15th September 2013, 9:30-1:00.  Check their website to see if there’s a market taking place while you’re in the area if you want to go and pick up some goodies!

Thanet Farmers Market

The market is organised by three producers who are all based in Thanet:

– Sarah Bowers, Little Stour Orchard
– Award-winning apple juice, cider, vinegar and hand made
preserves
– Martin Karunaratna, Smoke & Spice
– Lightly smoked locally sourced meat, cheese and fish
– Charlotte Robinson, South Barn Gifts
– Hand made fudge, chocolate truffles, preserves and cakes

The organisers want to create a new opportunity for residents to buy high
quality artisan food and drink sourced from small, independent local
businesses.

The Marlowe Academy provides a central location for Thanet with ample
inside and outside space, enabling the market to operate all year round.
There is plenty of free parking.

The majority of stallholders are inside, unless they trade from a vehicle.
Seating is provided for refreshments with tea and coffee available as well
as hot and cold food from some of the stallholders.

The market will be run as a community interest company (CIC) and the
organisers will be working with The Marlowe Academy to engage the students
in food-related educational activities.

After the launch event, and the second market, which is Sunday
20th October, the market will operate on every 2nd Sunday of the
month, 9:30-1:00.

Thanet Farmers’ Market is predominantly for food and drink, but each month
there will be one or two local guest craft stalls in attendance and at
least one charity stall.

For the launch event there will be around 30 producers who will be
selling meat, fish, fruit & veg, eggs, bread, cheese, cakes, chocolate,
fudge, jam, chutney, fruit juice, cider, beer and much, much more!
